MANILA, Philippines - While she expected to give birth to quarduplets, a construction worker's wife got a surprise as she gave birth to quintuplets in Manila before dawn Monday.
Radio dzXL reported that Lolita Fernandez gave birth to the five girls through Caesarian operation at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center at 4 a.m.
But of the five, only two were reported healthy, with two hooked to a respirator and the fifth still in critical condition and was placed in the intensive care unit.
The parents, who already a child aged one year and seven months, appealed to the public for financial help in raising their children.
